HOW IT STARTED

Chevrolet was founded on November 3, 1911. It was founded by an American entrepreneur, William Durand, who at that time was a co-owner of General Motors Corporation, and Louis Chevrolet, a racer, mechanic and automaker of Swiss origin.

The philosophy of Chevrolet brand  - practicality, accessibility and durability.

As it is not difficult to guess, Louis Chevrolet's main passion was cars. One day, the racer attracted the attention of major players in the American automobile market, including William Durand. The businessman was a "visionary" of marketing and decided that the name of the Chevrolet racer would help increase sales, so it was decided to name the company in his honor.

The company was confidently going to success, but Durant and Chevrolet disagreed about the values of the brand. As a result, in 1915 Durant decided to buy out his partner's share. Car sales continued to grow. Such success prompted William Durand in 1916 to acquire a controlling stake in General Motors and become at the helm of a huge corporation, making Chevrolet one of the divisions.

In 1920, Durand left General Motors. The entrepreneur created another car company, and also became one of the most famous investors on Wall Street. However, in 1929, the stock market collapsed, which adversely affected business. After 7 years, William Durant became completely bankrupt. The entrepreneur died in 1947, he was buried in New York, at the Woodlawn Cemetery.

During the Great Depression, Louis Chevrolet also lost his entire fortune. In order to have something to live on, he got a job as a mechanic at the Chevrolet factory in Detroit.

THE FIRST CAR AND THE INNOVATIONS BEING INTRODUCED

The first car developed by Chevrolet was the "passenger car" of the C Classic Six series. A large car with a 4.9-liter six-cylinder engine and 40 horsepower could accelerate to 65 mph (approximately 104.6 km/h).

The Series C Classic Six was equipped with electric headlights and a starter. Technologies that were once a privilege only for expensive cars became available in Chevrolet from the very beginning.

Electronic safety system, ABS, fuel injection, impact—resistant glass - in the future, Chevrolet continued to innovate in its cars. The vehicles produced by this brand enjoyed enormous popularity, not only in the USA, but also abroad.

The performance of the car has also become more accessible. Four- and six-cylinder engines were famous for their high performance and durability. However, in 1955, a new era of performance began after Chevrolet released the small-block V-8.

In the next 50 years, this engine will be used in the production of millions of cars. And its "heir" — the small-block V-8 of the new generation is still used in sports models Corvette, Camaro SS, as well as in some SUVs and trucks.

The characteristics of the small-block V-8 brought Chevrolet to the leaders in all types of motorsport. At the races, Chevrolet cars have become the main competitors of well-known car brands.

CHEVROLET IN UZBEKISTAN

In March 2008, “Uzautosanoat” JSC signed a cooperation agreement with General Motors Corporation, a global car manufacturer, for the purpose of subsequent assembly and sale of Chevrolet cars in Uzbekistan.

The first three Chevrolet models - Captiva, Epica and Tacuma - are immediately assembled from large car kits along with other models, which over the next three years will be added to the production program for large-scale assembly and full-scale production.

June 2008 – the start of production of the Nexia N150 car.

November 2008 – the start of serial production of the Lacetti car.

August 2010 – the start of serial production of the Spark car.

March 2012 –the beginning of large-panel assembly of Chevrolet Malibu.

September 2012 - the start of serial production of the Chevrolet Cobalt car.

November 2013 – the start of production of the Lacetti II (Gentra) car.

January 2014 – opening of GM Uzbekistan branch in Pitnak.

March 2014 - the start of production of the Chevrolet Orlando car.

December 2015 - the start of production of Lacetti car with GBJ.

July 2015 - the start of production of the Labo commercial vehicle.

April 2016 - the start of production of the Captiva car.

June 2016 – the start of production of the Nexia (T250) car.

April 2017 - the launch of a new second-generation Malibu car.

May 2017 - the start of production of the Labo car with an elongated cargo compartment.

2018 - the start of production of the Tracker model by the SKD method.

July 2022 - serial production of Chevrolet Tracker cars.

February 2023 - serial production of Chevrolet Onix cars.
